Israeli troops killed Thaer Abu Kanel, a deputy leader of the Al Aqsa Martyrs' Brigade, Saturday when they demolished the West Bank home he was hiding in, burying him under the rubble, Palestinian officials said. Israeli troops surrounded the Jenin building and called on the inhabitants to leave, the army said. All the residents left the house except for Abu Kanel, the army added. Soldiers lay siege for hours, repeatedly calling on Abu Kanel, 30, to surrender, the army said. Finally, the troops demolished the first floor of the house on top of him. Abu Kanel, was buried under the rubble, and Palestinians removed the body later Saturday.
