India and Oman will sign an extradition treaty during the Indian foreign minister's visit to the Gulf state over the weekend, a foreign ministry spokesman said Saturday. External Affairs Minister Natwar Singh, who arrives in Oman later Saturday, will also discuss steps to boost trade and political ties between the two countries during meetings with Oman senior officials, ministry spokesman Navtej Sarna said in a statement. Sarna said Singh would sign an extradition agreement, but didn't give further details. Singh will also visit the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain as part of a three-nation tour of the Gulf that will end on Dec. 30.
