Microsoft Corporation Middle East Region Chairman Emre Berkin has met Pakistan Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and discussed matters relating to the development of IT sector in Pakistan, according to an official statement. Minister for IT and Telecom Owais Ahmad Khan Leghari and Minister of State for IT Asjad Malhi were also present on the occasion. Berkin informed the Prime Minister of Microsoft's growing interest in Pakistan. He said that Pakistan could be made the regional hub of Microsoft's Products. He informed the Premier of the corporation's plans to set up Microsoft Training Centers, to train professionals who can serve the growing economy of Pakistan. Berkin indicated that Pakistan has great potential of playing a worldwide role in IT services. He particularly mentioned that the corporation would like to become a strategic partner with the Pakistan government for promotion of E-Government and other IT related projects. The prime minister appreciated the efforts of Microsoft to promote Pakistan's IT capacity. He said that the country has the potential to become an international player in this field. While renewing the Government's commitment to develop and promote IT, he assured all out support to the corporation in expanding its activities and operations.
