UK official confirms minister Blunkett resigned

Senior British government minister David Blunkett, a trusted ally of Prime Minister Tony Blair, resigned on Wednesday, a government official confirmed.
Asked if Blunkett had resigned, a spokesman for the Home Secretary said: "Yes".
The resignation follows weeks of allegations that Blunkett abused his office and after he criticised senior government ministers in a biography.
