U.S. stocks nudged higher Tuesday as the Federal Reserve hiked interest rates by an expected quarter-point, while technology stocks were sparked by a report that Veritas Software Corp. would be taken over. The Dow Jones industrial average was up 12.50 points, or 0.12 percent, at 10,650.82. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up 2.12 points, or 0.18 percent, at 1,200.80. The technology-laced Nasdaq Composite Index was up 7.56 points, or 0.35 percent, at 2,156.06.
