In continuation of the Kingdom's efforts to achieve security and stability in Yemen since the signing of the Riyadh agreement, and in an effort to implement political resolutions between conflicting parties, representatives of the Yemeni government and the Southern Transitional Council have gathered in Riyadh to push for the implementation of the Riyadh agreement. The two parties have agreed to end all forms of escalation, including political, military, security, economic, social and media, in a mechanism agreed by all to stop the escalation. In this regard, the Kingdom views the recent political and media escalation, and what followed it with political and military appointments by the Southern Transitional Council, as inconsistent with what the two parties have agreed to. The Kingdom calls on the two parties of the Riyadh agreement to urgently respond to the agreed upon terms, avoid conflict, and implement the mechanisms that were proposed. The Kingdom calls for prioritizing the public interest and completing the implementation of the remaining provisions of the agreement, in order to unite the ranks of the various segments of the Yemeni people, prevent bloodshed, bridge the rift between Yemeni factions and complete the path towards restoring the Yemeni state and achieving security and stability, which will support efforts to reach a comprehensive political resolution that ends the crisis in Yemen. The Kingdom affirms that the return of the Yemeni government formed in accordance with the Riyadh Agreement is a top priority. The Kingdom also reiterates its continued support for the Yemeni government, with the participation of the Southern Transitional Council, and stresses the importance of the commitment of both parties to what was agreed to.
