One U.S. Marine was killed in combat in Iraq's volatile western Anbar province, the military said Friday. The Marine, who was assigned to the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, was killed Thursday "while conducting security and stabilization operations in the Anbar Province," the military said in a statement. His death takes the number of U.S. troops to at least 1,282 to have died since the war began in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count.
