The Cabinet issued yesterday a decision approving the organization of the National Center for the Development of the Non-Profit Sector, which will contribute to organizing, operating and supervising the non-profit sector, as well as sector governance and enable it to improve workflow processes that help realize the sector's envisioned goals. The Cabinet's decision to organize the National Center for the Development of the Non-Profit Sector follows a previous decision that approved establishing the center as part of the goals of the 2030 Saudi Vision, where the center is one of the initiatives of the National transformation Program that aims at empowering the non-profit sector and achieving deeper impact of the sector at the social and economic levels. The National Center for the Development of the Non-Profit Sector aims at activating and expanding the role of the non-profit organizations in development fields, working on the integration of government efforts in offering licensing services to these organizations, following up on the financial, administrative and technical performance of the sector, increasing coordination and harmony, enhancing the sector governance, and addressing challenges facing the non-profit sector. The center will also seek to develop the non-profit sector strategy, support relevant legislations and policies, registering non-profit organizations and issue licenses, and follow up on the performance of organizations and publish their statistics, where the operations of the center include coordination and integration with technical supervisory units at government bodies. The establishment of the center is associated with the 2030 Saudi Vision through targeting the non-profit sector, increasing its contribution to the GDP by 5 percent by 2030, increasing the number of non-profit organizations and volunteers to one million. The center will enjoy legal responsibility and financial and administrative independency, and will also be affiliated with the Prime Minister.
