The Arab states condemned in a statement the brutal assault by the Israeli occupation forces on the Palestinians in Jerusalem, especially at the Damascus Gate and inside the Al-Aqsa Mosque and its campus during Ramadan, and exposing dozens of Palestinian families to forcible displacement. The statement, which was delivered during an emergency session held by the "Human Rights Council in the Occupied Palestinian Territories" by Egypt's ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva Ahmed Ihab Jamal El-Din stated that the ongoing Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip and targeting densely populated residential areas led to the death of 248 Palestinians, including 66 children, the injury of more than 1900 Palestinians, and the displacement of more than 50,000 families who flooded the UNRWA shelters thus turning them to a dangerous environment for the rapid spread of the COVID-19. The Arab states stressed that the failure of the international meeting to put an end to the brutal Israeli occupation and its violations and holding it accountable led to the return of the occupying force to kill the Palestinians and continue its violations and crimes without repercussions. The Arab states demanded immediate and urgent action by the international community to stop the crimes and massacres committed against the Palestinians, holding the Israeli occupation fully and directly responsible for the results of this criminal aggression against the Palestinians in general and in Gaza and occupied Jerusalem in particular. They also supported the Palestinian call for an independent and transparent international investigation and accountability for violators of international humanitarian law and international law in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem, and particularly in the Gaza Strip.
