The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned on Sunday, the escalation carried out by the Israeli authorities in Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the attack on the employees of Jordan-run Jerusalem Endowment Department and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs and worshipers. The Jordanian ministry also deplores entry of large numbers of Jewish extremists to the mosque under protection of Israeli police and elite forces. According to Petra, the Jordanian Foreign Ministry's' official spokesperson, Dhaifallah Fayez, said practices of the Israeli police and special forces in the Al-Aqsa Mosque are a "dangerous escalation," a "provocative act and a flagrant, unacceptable and condemned violation" that challenges international efforts and endeavors that have crystallized over the past period to reach calm and stop violence and escalation in Jerusalem and the rest of the occupied Palestinian territories. He warned the Israeli authorities against continuing their violations, adding Israel must adhere to its responsibilities, in accordance with international law, as the occupying power in East Jerusalem. The Jordanian official spokesperson called on the Israeli authorities to stop violations and attacks at Al-Aqsa Mosque, respect its holiness, and the existing legal and historical status, and authority of the Jordan-run Jerusalem Endowment Department and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs, the body exclusively authorized to manage all the affairs of Al-Haram Al-Sharif.
