At least 39 people were killed in a landslide that hit a mountainside village in southwestern China and rescuers were still searching for survivors among the toppled houses, local media reported on Saturday. More than 40 people survived the landslide, but at least 20 remain missing after the accident in the southwestern province of Guizhou in the early hours of Friday. "Evacuators are clearing up the rubble and rescue efforts are still underway," the China Daily quoted Yang Guoshun, an official at the State Administration of Work Safety, as saying.
