Diriyah Gate Development Authority (DGDA) stressed that it has recorded important events and aspects of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's history and cultural heritage through the Oral History Project that was launched last year with the aim of documenting elderly peoples' testimonies, memories and stories about the Saudi history and heritage. The authority said in a statement that the Oral History Project is one of its most significant achievements, adding that work teams have documented a large number of important narratives from more than 150 hours of interviews and meetings they conducted with people from Diriyah last year. The DGDA explained that the idea of the Oral history Project is based on conducting videotaped interviews and conversations with elderly people in Diriyah with the aim of documenting their unwritten accounts, testimonies, stories and memories about Diriyah, adding that, besides filming and documenting, the project sets certain criterion for narrative evaluation and selection based on cohesion and analysis of experts working in Diriyah. The authority also explained that the project is carried out using scientific methods that verify the chronology of events and narratives, adding that it is moving ahead with the collection and examination of narratives, testimonies and visual accounts on important events in Diriyah's history. The DGDA said that it has completed the recording of the interviews of the first phase and will work on expanding the documentation of oral history through increasing the number of programs of the Oral history Project this year.
