Published in Saudi Press Agency on 12 - 01 - 2021

The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) and ALWALEED Philanthropies Foundation signed today two development agreements, whereas one covers cooperation with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) for supporting the housing sector in the Republic of Yemen (Adequate Housing), while the other deals with cooperation with Education for Employment aiming at implementing "Building the Future for Yemeni Youths" project.
The two agreements were co-signed by Saudi Ambassador to Yemen Mohammed bin Saeid Al Jaber, who is also the General Supervisor of SDRPY and Princess Lamia bint Majed bin Abdulaziz, Secretary General of ALWALEED Philanthropies.
The signing ceremony was virtually attended by Yemeni Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Wa'ed Abdullah Badeeb, Yemeni Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Dr. Mohammed Saeed Al-Zaouri and Yemeni Minister of Public Works Mane Yasslam Bayameen.
Adequate Housing, the first project, aims to rehabilitate 600 dilapidated housing units for low-income families in Aden Governorate, in coordination with the Yemeni government and local authorities as well as civil society organizations. More than 600 families living in these housing units are classified below poverty line.
The studies conducted by the relevant parties affirm that more than 4,200 direct beneficiaries will take advantage of this project in addition to the improvement of the urban landscape of the residential districts as well as the stability of social and economic circumstances. More than 200 vocational training unemployed young individuals are set to be recruited in the project in addition to 1,600 new job opportunities on schedule during the period of implementation.
On the other hand, Building the Future for Yemeni Youths project, being implemented in coordination with the Yemeni government and local authorities,
aims to improve the livelihood of more than 660 Yemeni youth and their families in various directorates of Aden through achieving a living and economic balance on one hand and provision of job opportunities and training on the other.
