A court in Tajikistan has sentenced 20 members of a banned radical Muslim group to three to eight years in jail, officials said Friday. The regional court in northern Sughd province on Tuesday found the men guilty of extremism and inciting inter-ethnic hatred as members of the outlawed Hizb-ut-Tahrir party, court officials said. The 20 were detained in February in the northern town of Khujand. Police seized extremist literature and leaflets from them, said the officials, who asked not to be identified.
