President of the Human Rights Commission (HRC) Dr. Awwad bin Saleh Al-Awwad, affirmed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is working continuously to achieve sustainable development, enforce rule of law, and bring about justice and equality, citing the issuance of more than 70 decisions as evidence of implementing unprecedented reforms in the field of human rights in the Kingdom. Committed to an effective and realistic translation in support of human rights in light of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, the Kingdom has also fulfilled all obligations falling in its concern, qualifying it to become among 36 countries out of a total of 197 state parties that have adhered to this criterion, he added. This came in a speech delivered by Dr. Al-Awwad on the occasion of International Human Rights Day 2020, the slogan of which stresses that human rights are at the core of recovery efforts from Covid-19. He further said that the Kingdom's prudent leadership followed a unique humanitarian approach in dealing with coronavirus pandemic, attaching great importance and care at both the national and international levels. He added that the Kingdom's efforts, in this context, were the focus of everyone's attention based on the reality of successive decisions and measures that took into account equality in prevention and treatment for all citizens and residents providing them with safety and health means, in addition to supporting various sectors in order to strengthen their might in the face of this pandemic, which has already contributed to maintaining the balance of the economy and its resilience in the face of negative repercussions. HRC President highlighted the Kingdom's great support for and assistance to the international community through the support of organizations and states, citing its continuous approach in helping the humanity as a whole away from any inhuman motives.
