The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia welcomed the nomination of H.E. Mr. Hussein Ibrahim Taha of Chad, on being selected by consensus as secretary general of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs said in a statement "The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia welcomes the nomination of H.E. Mr. Taha, fulfilling the Kingdom's previous commitment towards the African Group, and acting according to the organizations charter regarding the choice of secretary general reflecting fair geographic representation, circulation and equal opportunities among member countries. The Kingdom offers full support to the new secretary general stemming from its active role in serving Islamic causes around the world". The Minister of Foreign Affairs extended his congratulations to H.E. Mr. Hussein Ibrahim Taha of Chad on being selected by consensus as secretary general of the OIC, wishing him all the success in assuming his new role as of November 2021. He also extended his sincerest gratitude to H.E. Yousef Alothaimeen for his great efforts and service in this position.
