Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr. Nayef Falah Mubarak Al-Hajraf received in his office in Riyadh today the ambassador-designate of the European Union to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kingdom of Bahrain and Sultanate of Oman Patrick Simonnet. During the meeting, they reviewed the progress of work in all fields of cooperation between the GCC countries and the European Union as per the cooperation agreement concluded between the two parties in 1988. Also discussed were the latest regional and international developments and issues of mutual interest. For his part, the ambassador conveyed condolences of the European Union on the sad demise of Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, recalling his supportive role for security and stability of the region and the entire world, citing the deceased contribution to humanity and development. The meeting was attended by Dr. Abdulaziz Hamad Al-Owaisheq, Assistant Secretary General of the GCC for Political Affairs and Negotiations.
