The events of the 6th edition of the Saudi Films' Festival kicked off today. The annually organized festival by King Abdulaziz World Cultural Center "Ithra'a", in partnership with the Saudi Arabian Culture and Arts' Association, is taking place in Dammam on 1-6 September, supported by the Film Commission of the Ministry of Culture, . This edition will be virtually displayed, in full, to show masterpieces of the Saudi cinema industry, competing to obtain the festival awards through a package of as many as 25 films, set to appear on Saudi Films' Festival YouTube channel, along the side of the direct transmission of dialogues with filmmakers and a host of specialized workshops, for the interested. Since its inception in 2008, the festival aims at becoming the motivator of the filmmaking industry and a leverage for the cultural mobility, in the Kingdom, in addition to provide talented and interested Saudi youth, males and females, with more opportunities related to filmmaking industry and to celebrate the best of motion pictures. The festival also seeks to lay ground for establishing an environment for idea-exchanging among the creative ones amid the filmmaking industry. Saudi Film Festival has developed, since, to emerge as the main drive for filmmaking industry, in the Kingdom. On the other hand, Ithra'a cinematic initiative played a pioneer role in the filmmaking, in the Kingdom, as it produced over 20 films, which won 15 local as well as world prizes. An array of Ithra'a made films is streamed, nowadays, on Netflix platform, all over the world.
