The Arab Parliament has welcomed the mechanism presented by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to accelerate and activate the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement which was signed by the Yemeni government and the Southern Transitional Council on November 5, 2019. In a statement, President of the Arab Parliament Dr. Mishaal bin Fahm Al-Sulami praised the efforts made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to gather the two parties, address conflicts and remove obstacles that caused delaying the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement. He added that the Riyadh Agreement is an essential pillar to preserve the sovereignty of Yemen and achieve its unity. Dr. Al-Sulami stressed that this mechanism comes as a continuation of the Saudi Arabia's efforts to strengthen the unity of Yemen and achieve its security and stability. It will also contribute to unifying the Yemeni people and activating state institutions, implementing humanitarian projects and speeding up the development to benefit the Yemeni people and alleviate their suffering, he added. The President of the Arab Parliament called on all parties to accelerate the implementation of this mechanism, give priority to the interests of the Yemeni people and unite efforts to face the Houthi militias. Dr. Al-Sulami expressed the Parliament's full support for the efforts made by the Coalition to Restore legitimacy in Yemen to achieve security, stability, peace and development in Yemen, in addition to reaching a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis that would end the coup according to the three references, the GCC initiative and its implementation mechanisms, the outcomes of the comprehensive national dialogue and the Security Council Resolution No. 2216.
