The Arab Republic of Egypt welcomed the announcement of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen being led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia of the response of both the legitimate government of Yemen and the Southern Transitional Council to Saudi Arabia's request for a comprehensive ceasefire, de-escalation and a meeting to be convened in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to move forward in implementing the Riyadh Agreement. In a statement issued today, Egypt appreciated the unremitting efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia supporting Yemen and its people, expressing its confidence that these efforts will create appropriate conditions for the resumption of the political process between Yemeni parties with the aim to reach a comprehensive political solution to the crisis, based on the relevant references; in particular, the initiative of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference, and Security Council Resolution 2216. The statement stressed Egypt's support for all efforts aimed at achieving peace, security and stability in Yemen, ensuring its unity, territorial integrity and alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people.
