Official Spokesman of Border Guard Lieutenant General Misfer bin Ghannam Al-Quraini said in a statement that the Border Guard managed to foil several attempts to smuggle narcotics into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia via Jazan, Najran, Asir and Tabuk regions during the last month. As many as 196 smugglers tried to smuggle 937 Kilograms of Hashish, 18,893 Kilograms of Qat,640,295 pills of Amphetamine, and 6,809 Grams of Opium during last month, Al-Quraini said, adding that the smugglers were arrested and referred to the competent authorities to complete legal procedures against them.
