German shares finished the Frankfurt Stock Exchange session Wednesday managing only slight gains while the euro was slightly lower on currency markets. The bluechip 30-share DAX closed at 3976.03 points, up a slight 0.24 per cent, in a market which steadily lost momentum and erosion of share prices amid sharp losses for ThyssenKrupp stocks. The mid-cap MDAX index finished a tiny 0.02 per cent lower at 5085.74 points, while the tech stocks index TecDAX closed virtually unchanged at 505.79 points. ThyssenKrupp shares topped all the losses of the day, dropping 3.05 per cent to 15.89 euros while the steel giant was fighting market rumours of price fixing with the Arcelor and Alcoa companies. On the upside, chip company Infineon gained 2.55 per cent to 8.45 euros as investors responded positively to the stronger-than-expected quarterly profit figures reported Tuesday by U.S. chip giant Intel. Lufthansa also posted a solid gain of 2.21 per cent, to 9.73 euros on the strength of its report saying that September flight bookings had not suffered despite a raise in ticket prices. --More 2306 Local Time 2006 GMT
