The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia confirmed that its position on the crisis in Syria is clear and a political solution, in accordance with Security Council Resolution 2254 and the First Geneva conference, is the only way to reach a real and lasting solution to the conflict. Stating that Iran still continues to pose a major threat to the future of Syria and its identity. This came in the Kingdom's speech delivered by Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, during his participation today in the Brussels conference to support the future of Syria and the region. Prince Faisal said: We meet today at the fourth Brussels conference on supporting the future of Syria and the region as the Syrian conflict passes its 10th year, and still we have not reached a solution or halted the humanitarian tragedy - a crisis that caused serious repercussions to the Syrian people, and to peace and security in the region and the world. Prince Faisal affirmed that the position of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the crisis in Syria is clear and a political solution, in accordance with Security Council Resolution 2254 and the First Geneva conference, is the only way to reach a real and lasting solution to the conflict. Prince Faisal also affirmed the Kingdom's full support to the UN Special Envoy to Syria, Geir Pedersen, and to the UN's efforts to end the tragedy in Syria, and to resume the work of the Constitutional Commission. To facilitate the political process, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia hosted the Riyadh 1 and Riyadh 2 conferences, which led to the creation of the High Negotiation Committee. Further, the Kingdom has spared no effort in working towards unifying the positions of the Syrian opposition. The Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed that Iran continues to pose a serious danger to Syria's future and identity, and said: If there are interests of some international parties, Iran has a dangerous regional project to dominate by using sectarian militias and the igniting of civil wars that destroy peoples and homelands. Prince Faisal added: The sectarian militias and terrorist groups are two sides of the same coin, they both work to create destruction, act as spoilers to peace, and utilize fear and hate – thus prolonging the conflict. Saudi Arabia reaffirms the importance of combating all forms of terrorism and terrorist groups. Prince Faisal stated that the Kingdom has contributed to alleviating the suffering of the Syrian people by welcoming hundreds of thousands of Syrians into the country and provided them with the same access to jobs, health care, and education as we do to our citizens. More than one hundred thousand Syrians have enrolled in the Kingdom's schools and universities. Prince Faisal indicated that the Kingdom's efforts included programs to support and care for millions of Syrian refugees in Turkey, Jordan and Lebanon through programs implemented by the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Action. The Kingdom's humanitarian assistance to the Syrian people in neighboring countries, and in Syria, has reached approximately one billion one hundred and fifty US Dollars support millions of Syrian refugees in Turkey, Jordan and Lebanon through programs implemented by the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Action.
