Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak arrived in Rome Monday for a two-day visit that includes meetings with Premier Silvio Berlusconi and other top officials. Violence in Iraq and the Middle East peace process were expected to top the agenda of the talks. Egypt, a close ally of the United States, has offered to host an international conference on Iraq next month. Mubarak was scheduled to meet Italian President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi later Monday. On Tuesday he is set to have talks with Berlusconi before traveling to Paris.
