Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) took part here today, in a virtual conference for the Sahel countries' coalition G5, hosted by the Republic of France. Burkina Faso, Mali, Mauritania, Niger and Chad, in addition to the European Union as well as other international partners, participated in the virtual conference, too. During the conversation, the Prince drew attention to the significance of the issue under discussion, as it sheds light on an important part of the world still targeted by the scourge of terrorism and terrorist outfits, stressing that the Kingdom is a vanguard among world countries fighting and combat terrorism and pointing out that the Kingdom believes in the importance of adopting a comprehensive approach, within the framework of the international legitimacy, that would eliminate terrorism, save the lives of the innocents and maintain the states' sovereignty, security and stability. In this regard, the Minister of Foreign Affairs said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has contributed $10 million to establish the UN center to combat terrorism, which provides UN member states with great help, including the countries of the Sahel region, in this respect. Based on the Kingdom's historical relations with the member states of the Sahel Coalition and believing in the vivid role played by such a grouping, in fighting terrorism, the Kingdom is coordinating and sharing data and information related to combat terrorism, with all member states of the coalition, he stated, elaborating that the Kingdom is also keen to provide the G5 countries of the Sahel with technical backup and support, in combating terrorism and its funding sources. The Minister concluded by reasserting that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will spare no effort to support all nations, in the war against terrorism and extremism.
