Air France is increasing long-haul ticket prices to counter the rise in oil prices, the company said. In a statement late Thursday, Air France said it would raise long-haul ticket prices by ¤11 (US$13.52). The surcharge will be lifted automatically when the price of oil remains below US$40 for 30 consecutive days. The price of light sweet crude peaked US$53 a barrel in New York on Thursday and eased back slightly in Asian trading Friday. KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, which was acquired by Air France earlier this year, announced a ¤7 (US$8.60) fuel surcharge on Thursday.
