Ministry of Interior Announces Provisions and Fines for Violators of Preventive Measures to Confront Coronavirus Pandemic

An official source of the Ministry of Interior stated that in implementation of the Royal Decree, which comes in line with the concern for the health and safety of the citizens and expatriates to prevent the outbreak of the new Coronavirus, and in fulfilment of everyone's commitment to implement the precautionary and preventive measures to confront this pandemic, the Ministry of Interior announces, to the attention of all citizens and expatriates, the following provisions and fines for violators of precautionary and preventive measures to confront the pandemic:
First: Persons, or private sector enterprises, or their employees, or those who are dealing with them, who violate the precautionary and preventive measures taken by the concerned authorities to confront the Coronavirus pandemic, shall be punished with a fine of no less than SR 1,000 and no more than SR 100,000, imprisonment for a period of not less than one month and not exceeding one year, or both imprisonment and fine, with closing of the facility for a period not exceeding six months, if required.
In the case of recurrence, the fine imposed in the previous violation shall be doubled. The amount of the fine for each violation shall be determined according to a classification schedule that includes each violation and the corresponding punishment, and it shall be approved by the Minister of Interior in agreement with the Minister of Health.
Second: Whoever uses the permit or permission granted for moving at the time of curfew, for a purpose other than what it is allocated for, shall be punished with a fine of no less than SR 10,000 and no more than SR 100,000 or imprisonment for a period of not less than a month and not exceeding a year, or both imprisonment and fine together, with the withdrawal or cancellation of the permission.
Third: Whoever violates the instructions of isolation or quarantine shall be punished with a fine not exceeding SR 200,000, or imprisonment for a period not exceeding two years, or both imprisonment and fine.
In the case of recurrence, the fine imposed in the previous violation shall be doubled.
Fourth: Whoever deliberately transmits the infection to others shall be punished with a fine not exceeding SR 500,000 or imprisonment for a period not exceeding five years, or both imprisonment and fine.
In the case of recurrence, the fine imposed in the previous violation shall be doubled.
