GASTAT Invites Establishments of Private Sector to Participate in "COVID-19 Impact on Commercial Activities Survey" Through e- Questionnaire

General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) invited all establishments of private sector to participate in filling in the electronic questionnaire of "COVID-19 Impact on Commercial Activities Survey".
The Survey aims at measuring the impact of COVID-19 compared to the performance of commercial activities before March of this year. The Survey targets all commercial activities in Saudi Arabia, including all of their volumes, types and geographical scopes.
GASTAT indicated that the data of the statistical survey will be collected through a short electronic questionnaire that will be completed by the commercial establishments over a period of 14 days.
Contribution to completing the survey data through the electronic questionnaire will support policy makers and decision makers in Saudi Arabia to build a system of procedures to foster the survival and continuity of commercial activities in Saudi Arabia.
GASTAT also stated that this survey comes under an integrative framework with all government agencies related to commercial activities. The questionnaire was made according to statistical standards in order to provide data and indicators that measure the implications for precautionary measures developed to prevent the spread of the Virus. Further, to identify the general business behavior of current variables, and to identify labour force matters for (Saudis and non-Saudis) in various commercial activities.
GASTAT does not, according to the General Statistics Law issued by the Council of Ministers, release any data or information obtained from this survey that relate to individuals or establishments. It applies confidentiality rules to individual data and information to be used only for statistical purposes through overall results and general indicators in accordance with the regulations applied in Saudi Arabia.
It is worth mentioning that GASTAT is the only official statistical reference for statistical data and information in Saudi Arabia. It carries out all statistical works, in addition to the technical oversight of the statistical sector. GASTAT designs and implements field surveys, conducts statistical studies and researches, analyzes data and information, and carries out the documentation and archiving works of information and statistical data that cover all aspects of life in Saudi Arabia from its multiple sources.
Data are written, disaggregated, and analyzed to extract their indicators as well.
