The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has expressed its support to the declaration of the Coalition to Restore legitimacy in Yemen, which stressed the need to restore conditions to their previous state following the announcement of a state of emergency by the Southern Transitional Council and the consequential development of affairs in the interim capital (Aden) and some Southern governorates in the Republic of Yemen. OIC also stressed eliminating any actions contrary to the Riyadh Agreement. OIC Secretary General Dr. Yusuf bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen affirmed the importance of implementing Riyadh Agreement, citing the wide support for the agreement by the United Nations, adding that Riyadh Agreement will unify Yemeni ranks, return state's institutions and counter the threats of terrorism. Dr. Al-Othaimeen also stressed that any action that would escalate the situation and undermine efforts to resolve the Yemeni crisis peacefully must be avoided, calling on Yemeni parties to continue to implement Riyadh Agreement. The OIC Secretary General reiterated OIC stance by the Yemeni people, in such circumstances of hardship and backing up efforts to bring peace to Yemen, in addition to its support to the legitimacy in Yemen.
