The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Human Rights Commission (HRC), continues its efforts in combating trafficking in persons crimes, despite the circumstances the world is passing through in general and the Kingdom in particular due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The Anti-Trafficking in Persons Committee of HRC, in cooperation with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) for the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, concluded yesterday a two-day virtual training course in Makkah, Madinah and Jeddah on implementing the national referral mechanism to combat trafficking in persons, with the participation of 110 men and women from relevant ministries and authorities in the Kingdom, and members of relevant civil society organizations. The training course, led by the UNODC's Dr. Muhanad Al-Duwaikat, outlined the concepts of anti-trafficking according to the Saudi national system, the international protocol, the Saudi legal system to combat trafficking in persons for 2009, and the guidelines for protecting and assisting victims. The training course comes as part of the efforts made by the HRC represented by the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Committee to protect all persons from these heinous crimes.
