Under the chairmanship of Health Minister Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, the COVID-19 Follow-up Committee held its 61st meeting today in presence of the members of the committee representing a number of relevant governmental entities. During the meeting, all relevant COVID-19 updates and reports were reviewed. The committee discussed the epidemiological situation globally, as well as the cases reported locally. All precautionary measures carried out at the points of entry into the Kingdom will continue in full and will be further enhanced. The committee hailed interaction of all citizens and residents with the curfew order. Following the meeting, a press conference was held where Health Ministry Spokesperson Dr. Mohammed Al-Abdulaali reported that the total number of confirmed cases with the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) around the world amounted to more than 2,400,000, adding that more than 635,000 cases recovered so far. He disclosed that the number of deaths from COVID-19 reached around 166,000. "As many as 1,122 new cases of COVID-19 are recorded in the Kingdom, including 874 during the active screening. The cases represent 83% for non-Saudis and 17% for Saudis. The cases covered various cities in the Kingdom, including 402 in Makkah; 200 in Riyadh; 186 in Jeddah; 120 in Madinah; 78 in Dammam; 63 in Hafouf; 39 in Jubail; 16 in Taif; 9 in Zulfi; 5 in Khobar; 3 in each of Abha, Buraydah and Najran; one in each of Diriyah, Yanbu and Al-Madha. The confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Kingdom are 10,484, 73% for non-Saudi cases and 27% for Saudi cases. As many as 8,891 cases diagnosed as active and 88 diagnosed as critical," he said, adding that 92 cases have recovered today, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1490. He stated that the total number of deaths from Coronavirus is 103 after reporting 6 deaths today. The Spokesperson of the Health Ministry affirmed that the Minister of Health's speech included important advices and guidelines. He called on whoever has symptoms or would like to check-up, to use the self-assessment service in MAWID application, and inquire or consult the Health Center (937) around the clock.
