Under the chairmanship of Health Minister Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, the COVID-19 Follow-up Committee held its 60th meeting today in presence of the members of the committee representing a number of relevant governmental entities. During the meeting, all relevant COVID-19 updates and reports were reviewed. The committee discussed the epidemiological situation globally, as well as the cases reported locally. All precautionary measures carried out at the points of entry into the Kingdom will continue in full and will be further enhanced. The committee hailed interaction of all citizens and residents with the curfew order. Following the meeting, a press conference was held where Health Ministry Spokesperson Dr. Mohammed Al-Abdulaali reported that the total number of confirmed cases with the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) around the world amounted to more than 2,300,000, adding that more than 600,000 cases recovered so far. He disclosed that the number of deaths from COVID-19 reached around 160,000. "As many as 1,088 new cases of COVID-19 are recorded in the Kingdom; 82% for non-Saudi cases and 17% for Saudis. The cases covered various cities in the Kingdom, including 251 in Makkah; 210 in Jeddah; 194 in Dammam; 177 in Madinah; 123 in Hafouf; 85 in Riyadh; 9 in Zulfi; 7 in Taif; 6 in Yanbu; 4in Hail; 4 in Dhahran; 3 in each of Unaizah, Jubail and Ras Tanoura; 2 in each of Tabuk and Rabigh; one in each of Baha, Kharj, Ais, Bish and Mahyel Asir. The confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Kingdom are 9362, including 7867 diagnosed as active and 93 diagnosed as critical," he said, adding that 69 cases have recovered today, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1398. He stated that the total number of deaths from Coronavirus is 97 after reporting 5 deaths today. The Spokesperson of the Health Ministry disclosed that the laboratory tests of COVID-19 exceed 180,000, pointing out that 892 cases confirmed today are detected via the active screening. He affirmed that the percentage of detecting non-Saudi cases in the recent three days were growing. He called on whoever has symptoms or would like to check-up, to use the self-assessment service in MAWID application, and inquire or consult the Health Center (937) around the clock.
