Ministry of Energy: New SR900 Million Package for Private Sector Includes Discounts on Electricity Bills for Commercial, Industrial and Agricultural Sectors
The Ministry of Energy affirmed that the order issued by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to approve a SR 900 million package of additional initiatives to confront the financial and economic impacts on the private sector and economic activities most affected by the implications of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic for electricity bills for these sectors through the following: First: Providing a 30% discount for April and May months on the electricity bill for the commercial, industrial, and agricultural sectors, with the possibility of extension if the need arises, with a budget of SR 900 million. It is expected that the number of accounts benefiting from this discount will be more than 1.7 million accounts. Second: Allowing the commercial and industrial sectors optionally to pay 50% of the value of the monthly electricity bill for the months of April, May, and June, as the remaining dues are to be collected in divided payments for six (6) months starting from January 2021 with the possibility of postponing the period of payment if it is necessary. More than 1.6 million accounts will benefit from this discount. The Ministry affirmed that the royal order of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques affirms his keenness on the continuation of the economic stability in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia after the entire world was affected by the repercussions of the Coronavirus.
