COVID-19 Follow-up Committee Holds Meeting

Under the chairmanship of Health Minister Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, the COVID-19 Follow-up Committee held its 44th meeting today.
During the meeting, all relevant COVID-19 updates and reports were reviewed. The committee discussed the epidemiological situation globally, as well as the cases reported locally. All precautionary measures carried out at the points of entry into the Kingdom will continue in full and will be further enhanced, the committee stressed.
Following the meeting, a press conference was held, including Health Ministry Spokesman Dr. Mohammed Al-Abdulaali and Lt. Col. Talal Al-Shalhoub, Security Spokesperson of the Ministry of Interior and Abdulaziz Malik Al-Malik, Vice President for Scientific Research Support at King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST).
For his part, Dr. Al-Abdulaali said the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases amounted to 1,134,339, of which 236,086 cases have been cured to date. The COVID-19 death toll has jumped to 60,427.
Dr. Al-Abdulaali said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has reported 140 new cases, of which two cases got infected while traveling and they are quarantined since their arrival to the Kingdom's ports of entry. The remaining 138 cases got infected as a result of contact with previously confirmed cases.
The new cases are distributed as follows: 66 in Riyadh, 21 in Jeddah, 15 in Hofuf, 9 in Makkah, 5 in Tabuk, 5 in Qatif, 4 in Taif, 2 in Madinah, 2 in Dammam, 2 in Khobar, 2 in Dhahran, and one in each of Yanbu, Abha, Jizan, Khamis Mushayt, Buraidah, Al-Majmaah, Diriyah, and Jubail, bringing the accumulative number of COVID-19 infections in the Kingdom to 2179 cases, including 1730 diagnosed as active and they are receiving necessary medical care and are in stable condition and some receive intensive care, given that their conditions are critical. He stated that there were 4 deaths, one death of a female citizen in Madinah, and 3 deaths of expatriates in Madinah, Jeddah and Makkah, bringing COVID-19 death toll to 29. However, 69 cured cases were recorded, bringing the number of cured cases to 420.
He called on everyone, who has symptoms or would like to assess, to use the self-assessment service in MAWID application, or call 937 Center, 24/7.
