Senior Scholars Council Issues Decision No. 246 Regarding Attendance of Friday Prayer and Prayers at Mosques in a Case of Spread of Epidemic or Fear of its Spread
The Senior Scholars Council held here yesterday 24th extraordinary session which discussed the issue of a permission for non-attending Friday (Jumma) prayer and prayers at a mosque in a case of spread of epidemic or fear of its spread. The council issued the following: First: The infected person is forbidden from attending Friday (Jumma) prayer and prayers at a mosque. Second: If anyone is instructed by the concerned bodies to carry out measures of isolation, the person must adhere to these measures and does not attend Friday prayer and prayers at a mosque. The person performs prayers at a home or isolation's headquarters. Third: If anyone is afraid to get infected or harm others, it is permitted non-attending Friday prayer and prayers at a mosque. Above-mentioned, if a person does not attend Friday prayers, the person performs it as afternoon (Dhuhur) prayer with four units (Rak'ah). The Senior Scholars Council urges all to abide by the instructions and regulations issued by the concerned bodies.
