The scientific sessions of the 2nd Riyadh International Humanitarian Forum, which is being held here under the patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, are started here today. The first high-level session was held under the title: "humanitarian-development nexus - the importance of the humanitarian-development nexus", with participation of Advisor at the Royal Court and Supervisor General of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rabeeah; United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Mark Lowcock; Director General of the World Health Organization Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus; President of the Islamic Development Bank Dr. Bandar bin Mohammad Hamza Hajjar; Executive Director for the UN World Food Program David Beasley; and UNRWA Acting Commissioner-General Christian Saunders. Dr. Al Rabeeah said that the 2nd Riyadh International Humanitarian Forum will discuss several humanitarian and relief issues and seek to find effective solutions to some of the challenges facing humanitarian work in the world.
