Joint Statement Issued at Conclusion of Mauritanian President's Visit to Saudi Arabia

At the conclusion of President Mohamed Ould Cheikh Ould Ghazouani of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania's visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the following joint statement was issued today.
At the invitation of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and based on the deep ties that link the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania and the strengthening of relations between the two countries, His Excellency President Mohamed Ould Cheikh Ould Ghazouani of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania answered the invitation and paid a visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Feb 26-29, 2020.
During the visit, meetings and discussions took place between the Saudi side and the Mauritanian side, in which they emphasized the close relations between the Kingdom and Mauritania.
His Excellency President Mohamed Ould Cheikh Ould Ghazouani praised the leadership role of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and his wise government, stressing his appreciation of the Kingdom's role regarding the issues facing the Arab and Islamic nations, and for the great services it provides to those who come to the Kingdom to perform the rituals of Hajj and Umrah or visiting.
His Excellency also praised the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 and the accomplishments of development being achieved in various fields.
For its part, the Saudi leadership praised the vision of His Excellency the Mauritanian President and his government in its relentless pursuit to achieve more progress, prosperity and development in the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, while emphasizing the Kingdom's permanent and continuous support for all that could serve and achieve more cooperation between the two countries and their two peoples.
During the meetings, the prospects for bilateral cooperation and ways to develop and deepen them in a manner that strengthens common interests between the two countries and their two peoples were discussed. The two sides expressed their satisfaction with the level of coordination and cooperation between the two countries, stressing the importance of what was signed of the following agreements:
1- An executive cooperation program in the field of technical and vocational training.
2- A memorandum of understanding in the field of civil service.
3- An executive program for cultural cooperation.
4- Memorandum of cooperation between King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives and Department of Mauritanian National Documents.
The two sides agreed to enhance communication between them at all levels and in various fields, especially with regard to the developmental, economic and commercial aspects and investment projects in the two countries, and the partnership between the different sectors in them, in order to discuss appropriate mechanisms to ensure the achievement of the desired goals that the two leaderships and peoples aspire to contribute to the increasing of the volume of investments and trade exchange between the two countries.
The two sides also discussed the most prominent issues on the Arab level, stressing the importance of preserving Arab national security and protecting the territorial integrity and safety of Arab countries. In this context, the Mauritanian side expressed its thanks to and appreciation of the financial, political and media support being provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the G5 group, while the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia expressed appreciation of the success of the Mauritanian government in achieving security and stability in Sahel region with the participating countries.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania renewed their commitment to combating terrorism in its various forms and manifestations, and expressed their deep appreciation of what has been achieved in this regard, with the need for the international community to assume its responsibilities in making further efforts to combat global terrorism, as well as enhancing security and peace all over the world.
Concluding his visit, His Excellency President Mohamed Ould Cheikh Ould Ghazouani of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, expressed his sincere thanks to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense for the warm welcome accorded to him and the accompanying delegation.
