Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations, Ambassador Abdullah bin Yahya Al-Muallami, today participated in the meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. During the meeting, Islamic issues of common concern and the current political challenges facing Islamic countries were reviewed. Ambassador Al-Muallami briefed the ambassadors of Islamic countries on the results of the meeting of the Contact Group in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation concerned with the Muslim Rohingya minority in Myanmar, which is chaired by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Ambassador Al-Muallami valued the decision of the International Court of Justice to impose measures against the government of Myanmar obliging it to guarantee protection for the Muslim Rohingya minority based on the General Assembly resolution on the situation of human rights in Myanmar, which was submitted by the Kingdom on behalf of the OIC countries, appreciating the efforts made by the sisterly Republic of Gambia which submitted this important case to the International Court of Justice. On the Palestinian issue, Ambassador Al-Muallami stressed the Kingdom's firm and historical position in supporting the Palestinian issue, stressing the right of the Palestinians to determine their destiny in accordance with international legitimacy decisions, and that the Kingdom accepts what the Palestinians accept, and rejects what they reject.
