Published in Saudi Press Agency on 04 - 02 - 2020

Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Eng. Abdullah bin Amer Al-Sawaha, participated in the Global Cybersecurity Forum, which is held on the sidelines of the digital economy file of the G20 Summit, under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and with the follow-up of HRH Crown Prince.
Minister Al-Sawaha noted the announcement of Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh Region, regarding the issuance of the directive of HRH Crown Prince to adopt the two global initiatives from His Highness to serve global cyber security, the first initiative is to protect children in the cyber world by launching projects to lead efforts related to the protection of children in cyberspace, and the second initiative is the empowerment of women in cybersecurity.
He said, "the first initiative is very close to our stereotypes and is related to securing a safe cyber world for our children where we can reach a minimum level of bullying and aggression to protect this space in which they are located. We should also focus on women and launch women initiative in the world of cybersecurity."
He added, "on the basis of these two initiatives, dialogue and partnership with all, we are fully confident that we can succeed and realize the opportunities of the twenty-first century by empowering women and people, protecting the physical and digital world, and achieving new success."
His said, "It is expected during the next five years that the digital economy will represent a quarter of the global economy," stressing the need to seize this opportunity by facing the challenges of the industrial revolution.
Minister of Communications and Information Technology pointed out that the last report of the World Economic Forum's Global Risks Report indicated that cyber security faces the greatest of these risks and challenges and this challenge threatens an economic value of more than six trillion dollars, equivalent to the economy of more than a third of the G20 countries.
