The Second Tuwaiq International Sculpture Symposium, to be organized by the Ministry of Culture, will be launched in Riyadh on Friday, from 10 to 30 January 2020. The Symposium will witness participation of 20 artists from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the world. Artists will implement new sculptures in the Diplomatic Quarters, Riyadh, inspired by famous Jabal Tuwaiq, which is one of the most prominent geographical features in the Kingdom, with its symbolism and historical significance, where artists will use white marble and create works that simulate the historical symbolism of this cultural landmark and express its authentic spirit. By organizing the Symposium, the Ministry aims to create cultural platforms during which innovators in the Kingdom meet their counterparts from the world, and establish an integrated empowering system that contributes to the prosperity of the cultural and artistic scene in the Kingdom. It also aims to support contemporary Saudi artists, talented individuals, and relevant bodies in arts sectors, to achieve sustainable development of this vital sector.
