Asharqia Chamber and the General Authority for Awqaf signed here yesterday a memorandum of cooperation to develop Awqaf sector along with activating the investment sector to promote and enhance the contribution of non-profit sector to economic and social development. The memorandum of cooperation provides that different initiatives will be launched to develop Awqaf sector and activate investment sector. It will also work on devising method to increase the revenues of Awqaf investments and increase the efficiency of endowment impact. Providing the quality of services and increasing the opportunities for endowment self-sufficiency are also parts of the memorandum. The memorandum was signed by Chairman of the Board of Directors of Asharqia Chamber Abdulhakeem bin Hamad Al-Ammar Al-Khalidi and the Governor of the General Authority for Awqaf Emad bin Saleh Al-Kharashi. Al-Kharashi stressed that the integration between the different sectors is essential for the society, adding that the authority is building communication channels with different relevant authorities to develop the General Authority for Awqaf. The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Asharqia Chamber said that our wise government has started its future vision of Awqaf sector, which aims to develop Awqaf sector and reformulate it to be better and become as one of the pillars of the sustainable development in the country.
