The residents of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are to watch next Thursday, a partial eclipse of the sun. An annular eclipse is a special case where the moon covers the center of the sun and leaves its edges illuminated, so it appears to us as a ring, while a partial eclipse covers the moon as part of the sun and the sun looks like a crescent. This was stated to "WAS", by the Head of the Department of Astronomy and Space, at King Abdulaziz University Dr. Hassan Mohammed Asiri, who said that: It is this type of eclipse that occurs when the moon falls away from the Earth, so that it does not block the entire discus of the sun and the sun appears as a luminous ring surrounding the moon. Dr. Hassan Asiri warned against looking directly at the sun during the eclipse, as this might cause harm to the eye, explaining that the department will monitor this phenomenon, using a number of telescopes and astronomical devices from Al-Ahsa Governorate.
