The Ministerial Council of the Riyadh-based Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) wrapped up its 92nd session at the Conferences Palace in Jeddah today. In a final communiqué, the ministers in charge of foreign affairs representing the six-member group in addition to the Secretary General of the GCC Abdulrahman bin Hamad Alatiyyah, reviewed a package of regional and international issues of concern to the member countries. The meeting reviewed reports submitted by the economical, commercial, cultural, defense, political, and social committees and took the relevant decisions. The council also reviewed the results of a task group between the GCC and Yemen to discuss matters of mutual benefit. The meeting was briefed on the positive developments taking place between the GCC on one hand and similar economic, political and trade blocs in the world, on the other. The GCC approved that Iraq re-join the Gulf Soccer Championship, effective the next tournament scheduled for Doha, Qatar, in December 2004. --More 2138 Local Time 1838 GMT
