Pakistan wants to accelerate the peace process with India and find a solution to their long-standing dispute over Kashmir, the Foreign Ministry spokesman said Monday. The comments by spokesman Masood Khan came ahead of a meeting later this month between Pakistani President Gen. Pervez Musharraf and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly in New York. "Our eyes are fixed on this meeting. This is a very important meeting but let's not speculate about the outcome," Khan told a news conference, when asked if Pakistan was hoping for a breakthrough on the Kashmir issue. "Let's hope for the best." "We should quicken the pace," Khan said. "There are no deadlines but the timeframe has to be there." "We have to move to the next critical stage where the engagement is more intense and more productive, where we are really looking at solutions and not skirting the issue," Khan told reporters in Islamabad.
