Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe received here yesterday the Speaker of Saudi Shura Council Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh currently on a visit to Sri Lanka. At the beginning of the reception, the Sri Lankan Prime Minister praised the Kingdom's successes in confronting the forces of terrorism, which are trying without success to harm the Kingdom's security, capabilities and citizens, expressing his thanks to the Kingdom for its efforts in serving pilgrims of his country. He praised what was discussed during the visit between the Sri Lankan Parliament and the Shura Council at various levels to enhance bilateral cooperation. For his part, the Speaker of the Shura Council said that the visit comes within the parliamentary diplomacy being carried out by the Shura Council to strengthen relations between the two countries, looking forward to increasing mutual visits between the two countries at all levels. The meeting was attended by the delegation accompanying the Speaker of the Shura Council and Saudi Ambassador to the Republic of Sri Lanka Abdulnasser Al-Harthy.
