President Rodrigo Roa Duterte of the Republic of the Philippines received here yesterday the Speaker of Saudi Shura Council Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh and his accompanying delegation, currently visiting the Philippines. At the outset of the meeting, the President welcomed the Speaker of Saudi Shura Council, extending his greetings to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, affirming the strength of Philippine-Saudi relations. The President also thanked the Government of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its interest in Filipino residents in the Kingdom and facilitating their living and labor affairs. For his part, Sheikh Dr. Al-Sheikh conveyed the greetings of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and HRH Crown Prince to the President and their best wishes of progress and prosperity to the government and people of the Philippines. He also stressed that his visit to the Republic of the Philippines comes within the framework of the interest by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to consolidate relations with other countries and strengthen relations between the Saudi Shura Council and the House of Representatives of the Philippines. During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral relations between the two countries and a number of issues of common concern. The meeting was attended by Speaker of House of Representatives of the Philippines, lan Peter Cayetano and a number of officials from both sides.
