The Sudanese government said on Sunday it will not meet with a senior U.S. official, claiming Washington failed to cooperate to allow Khartoum to run its embassy in the U.S. Sudanese Minister for Foreign Affairs Mustafa Osman Ismael will not visit with U.S. Assistant Secretary for African Affairs Constance Berry Newman, who is currently in Sudan. Ismael said the action was taken in return for what he has described as negative treatment of the Sudanese embassy in Washington. Sudan closed its embassy in Washington last week after having difficulties finding a bank to do business with. Ismael said a Sudanese diplomat who asked to travel outside the U.S. to collect money for the embassy's expenses was denied permission to do so. --SP 2331 Local Time 2031 GMT
