Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, Minister of Culture, has directed the Ministry of Culture to establish arts academies as part of the Quality of Life Program's initiatives, as implementation of the directives of the wise leadership in building and developing human beings and in line with the ministry's vision and trends to contribute to the Kingdom's Vision. The Minister of Culture stressed that the investment in capacity building is one of the most important elements of encouraging the cultural sector, which enjoys unlimited support from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense. The Minister added that the Kingdom is rich in diverse arts, talents and artistic production, pointing out that the arts academies will be the beginning of academic qualification within the Kingdom. The art academies will start with two academies in the first phase; one specialized in heritage, traditional arts and crafts, and will start receiving applications in autumn of 2020 and target 1000 students and trainees in long and short-term programs. The second academy will be dedicated to music and will receive 1000 students and trainees starting in 2021.
