The Palestinian legislature on Wednesday overwhelmingly accepted a set of recommendations calling for reforms in the Palestinian Authority. The Palestinian legislature had formed a 14-member committee to negotiate with Palestinian President Yasser Arafat on implementing reforms. On Wednesday, the committee presented its recommendations to parliament, which approved it by a 31-12 margin. The recommendations included forming a viable government capable of fighting corruption more effectively and restoring law and order, according to a report of the Associated Press. It also called on Arafat to follow through on promises made in a speech last week to crack down on graft.
