A bus slid off a muddy shoulder on one of northern Pakistan's most dangerous highways and plunged into a deep ravine Tuesday morning, killing at least nine people and wounding nine others, police said. The accident occurred near Skardu, a scenic region about 270 kilometers (165 miles) east of Gilgit, said Mohammed Hassan, an area police officer. He said rescue teams have transported the bodies and the injured to a hospital.
